Deadline: 20 Apr 2023

Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen

The University seeks to appoint a Senior Researcher to the Jensen Group at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW to commence in November 2023.

Information on the research group can be found at: https://renew.ku.dk/research/reseach-groups/jensen-group/ .

Job description
We wish to understand how the intestinal epithelium forms and how adult stem cells are specified during development. The intestinal epithelium is associated with numerous chronic diseases, and we strongly believe that insights into normal tissue development as well as regeneration will allow us to harness the potential of both fetal and adult intestinal stem cell for the development of new treatment option for patients with intestinal disorders. We are looking for an interdisciplinary researcher working at the interface of developmental cell biology, engineering, and tissue regeneration biology focusing on the quantitative understanding of the cell fate decisions of intestinal epithelium in health and disease. The candidate should be an expert in intestinal biology and combine studies of developmental biology in laboratory animals with embryonic and adult stem cell-derived organoid platforms that have translational directions to develop novel stem cell-driven therapies. The candidate should have strong skills in advanced imaging as well as 3D image analysis techniques and be engaged with other disciplines, particularly tissue engineering supported by extensive international collaborations. Given that the Vision of reNEW is to create a new generation of effective, safe, and socially sustainable stem cell-based therapies, an experience in executing life science projects towards value creating outcomes will be seen as a significant advantage.

The senior researcher’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
