157608 Clinical Professor of Psychiatry with Special Focus on Eating Disorders (Fixed-Term, 5 Years)
Department of Clinical Medicine
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen
The University seeks to appoint a clinical professor of Psychiatry with special focus on eating disorders to commence as soon as possible. The externally funded professorship is combined with a consultancy at the Mental Health Center Ballerup, the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region.
It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. In order to be considered for the position, the applicant must send two applications: one to the Faculty (the professorship) and one to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the consultancy. This also applies to applicants who are already employed as consultants at the Hospital. The advertisement for the consultancy is available at: https://candidate.hr-manager.net/ApplicationInit.aspx?cid=342&ProjectId=245511&DepartmentId=14158&MediaId=5 .
Both the professorship and the consultancy will be financed by the Mental Health Services.
Find information on the department at: http://ikm.ku.dk .
In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of psychiatry or child- and adolescent psychiatry.
The research area includes epidemiology, covering risk factors, pathophysiology including interaction between genetics and environment, comorbidity with somatic and psychiatric diseases, neurobiological conditions and triggering biological, psychological, and social factors. The area also covers studies on the effect of treatment, medically, psychologically, and nutritionally.
The research field of eating disorders is sparsely covered nationally and internationally. A growing research environment has been established at the Mental Health Center Ballerup, with the formation of cohorts with eating disorders and longitudinal follow-up.
The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Research, including publication/academic dissemination
- Research-based teaching, including associated examination for instance at the clinical course in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry at the fourth semester, Master Programme
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of Bachelor, Master and PHD students and other researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Academic assessments
Six overall criteria apply for professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and leadership) are considered a framework for the overall assessment of candidates. Find information about each criterion here: https://employment.ku.dk/faculty/criteria-for-recognising-merit .
