The job
The Lund group wishes to recruit an Associate Professor in RNA Biology. You will undertake a leading research role in the area of RNA biology and protein translation with a particular focus on ribosome heterogeneity and specialised functions. Thus, it is favourable that the candidate has previous research experience in aspects related to ribosome biology and regulation of translation in health and disease. You will assist in the running and management of the group and be involved in developing local and international collaborations and multidisciplinary research projects and in our on-going efforts to procure additional funding. You will also engage in core centre activities such as research-based teaching, talent and technology development to advance BRIC’s research environment and culture.
The Associate Professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Perform research at an international high level
- Run a research program investigating aspects of translational control at an excellent level
- Initiate and co-manage national and international collaborations to further research programs within the group
- Optimisation and development of state-of-the-art methodologies to drive breakthroughs with focus on exploiting innovative potentials
- Perform research leadership, including guidance and supervision of junior researchers
- Preparation of funding applications
- Dissemination of research results through publication and conferences
- Research-based teaching
- Share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Contribute to common activities at BRIC and at Faculty level
The candidate profile
Your background includes a PhD degree and more than 4 years of postdoctoral training. You should have a sound knowledge and strong publication record particularly in one or more fields related to ribosome heterogeneity, functional specialization of ribosomes and regulation of translation. You are expected to have experience in molecular methods for investigating ribosome biology and regulation of translation. The Associate Professor is also expected to possess excellent interpersonal and communicative skills and to contribute to develop the research environment and culture at BRIC.
Experience and skills in one or more of the following fields is required:
- RNA biology and RNA modifications
- Computational analysis and statistical evaluation of `omics’ datasets
- Cancer biology and model systems
- Developmental biology and cell differentiation
- Method development
Required qualifications

The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Terms of employment
The position is permanent
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
