Researcher opportunity in cell biology

The senior scientist, in collaboration with the local research scientists, will coordinate the Ph.D. and master student residents in the laboratory leading a project aimed to measure the prevalence and type of cancer-driver mutations in cell-free circulating DNA from patients affected by pancreatic carcinoma. Moreover, prevalence and types of mutations on a panel of candidate cancer driver genes will be also evaluated in a series of elderly people, not affected by cancer, but afflicted by conditions (such as diabetis and pancreatitis) predisposing to various types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer. We are looking for a senior scientist with experience in assays on cell free circulating DNA and on cancer genetics, genetic polymorphisms, and DNA mutations.

The candidate should have an excellent profile, knowledge of cell biology and molecular biology and strong communication skills, and motivation. The candidate should be able to work collaboratively, be committed to academic research, and work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds.

The person selected for participation in activity Working visits of senior researchers abroad must meet, on the date of departing, all of the following conditions:

  • be a researcher from abroad. A researcher from abroad means a researcher who has worked outside the Czech Republic for at least 2 full years during the last 3 years (as of the date of starting the mobility) in research for at least 0.5 FTE or was a Ph.D. (or similar ISCED level 8 equivalent) student abroad. Citizens of the Czech Republic are not excluded.
  • meet the following performance criteria of a senior researcher:
    • H-index – minimum value of 40 calculated according to the normalization table below called "Instructions for calculating the normalized H-index". The source for the conversion of the Hindex value is the Web of Science or Scopus. The calculation of the normalized H-index will be provided for each mobility together with other documents demonstrating the selection of the worker. A researcher in social sciences and humanities does not demonstrate the level of the H-index,

Additional requirements for a mobility participant are as follows:

    • PhD in GENETICS, natural sciences, medicine, biochemistry, biophysics or related fields
    • Experience with molecular analysis of DNA polymorphisms/mutations
    • Experience in cancer genetics and liquid biopsies is advantageous
    • Fluent English

All potential research outputs created during the implementation of mobilities must be published in the form of Open Access.
