We are looking for a new colleague to join our team specializing in industrial design and the creation of interior and exterior furnishing elements.

Academic staff member - Assistant Professor for the Department of Design and Furniture

At the Department of Design and Furniture, students gain information about production technologies, the historical development and creation of furniture, typology, ergonomics, construction and sizing of furniture. Attention is also paid to other materials used in the production of wooden and non-wooden furniture. In the field of research, the institute cooperates closely with the accredited Testing Laboratory for Construction and Joinery Products and Furniture.

Research in the field of industrial design and creation of interior and exterior furnishing elements

What will you do?

• teaching of subjects related to the specialization in industrial design and the creation of interior and exterior furnishing elements (Industrial Design, Construction and Process Engineering, Contemporary Furniture Design, Furniture Trade, History of Furniture Design)
• supervision and assessment of students' final theses
• preparation of project applications and participation in ongoing projects
• publishing activities
• presentation of the University's activities at national and international conferences

What do we require from you?

• a university degree at Ph.D. level in Architecture, Industrial Design or Design and Process Engineering
• ability to teach in Czech and English, publish in English
• practical experience in product design, architecture and corporate identity, and experience with implementations across these areas
• ability to innovate and incorporate relevant aspects (including technological and economic) into the final design
• experience of inventive drawing and the use of sketching in the design process
• knowledge of 2D and 3D applications used in the creative and related fields and their use in real production: Adobe CC applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Aftereffects), 3D modelling, visualisation and animation in Rhinoceros 3D and Autodesk 3ds Max, Vray visualisation plugin
• knowledge of technologies used in print and electronic media
• proficiency in data preparation technologies and the use of production and prototyping machines (CNC, 3D printing)
• hands-on experience with manufacturing technologies used in product and industrial design, prototyping and freelancing
• knowledge of using Oculus virtual reality technology and virtual space design applications (Adobe Medium, Gravity Sketch)

Required research experience:

• basic experience with submitting projects, methods of scientific work and writing publications
