The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations, cross-disciplinary research, innovation, and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.
Within this context, CyI in cooperation with Advanced Partners Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, University of Helsinki and Commission for Atomic Energy – Laboratory for Sciences of the Climate and the Environment, established the “(CARE-C) Eastern Mediterranean Middle East – Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre of Excellence” under Horizon 2020 – TEAMING Grant no. 856612.
The Unmanned Systems Research Laboratory (USRL; http://usrl.cyi.ac.cy ), a flagship facility of the Cyprus Institute (CyI) develops and operates Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) applied in various field of research, including atmospheric sciences, environmental monitoring, and various image based earth observations.
Due to the increasing demand in flying operations mostly related to research EU projects (Atmospheric Measurements, Aerial Imaging), The Cyprus Institute is seeking a UAS/UAV Pilot to actively contribute in flying operations as well as maintenance of the UAS as well as further development of the UASs.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute with the maintenance and repairs on the UASs and support scientists and engineers of the team to integrate new instruments on board the UAVs.
The position will be on a full-time basis for a fixed term of two years, renewable depending on performance and availability of funds. The rank and salary of the position will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be under the supervision of the Head of the Unmanned Systems Research Laboratory of CARE-C.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Research and Development Team of the USRL under the supervision of the USRL manager and CARE-C Director.
