The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European Non-profit Science and Technology oriented Educational and Research Institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its four Research Centres: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC) and the Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C). Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.

The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of CyI is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the position of a Software Engineer. The successful candidate will contribute to research activities in the area of multi-scale modeling and simulations, and will be responsible for the development of tools and services, including data analytics, to support researchers, within the context of the SimEA (https://simea.eu/ ) project.

The selected candidate will undertake the extension and improvement of existing modules, and contribute to infrastructure that nowadays is applied to various research disciplines internationally, specifically those related to PRACE research (http://www.prace-ri.eu/ ) and NI4OS-Europe

(https://ni4os.eu/ ) infrastructure.

The initial period of the appointment will be of a fixed-term period of 12 months either on a part-time or a full-time basis, renewable subject to performance, availability of funding and the needs of the project. An internationally competitive remuneration package will be offered, according to the level of experience of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

  • Contribute to project-specific software development, related to multi-scale computational modeling of complex systems and data analytics approaches.
  • Extend/improve existing modules in a more generic user-friendly fashion, modifying the underlying code as necessary, to meet the functionality required.
  • Develop well-functioning services for web-based simulation and data management system.
  • Identify opportunities for the further enrichment and advancement of existing simulation and data analytics codes (e.g. new user interfaces, new features and functionalities etc.).
