The Economic Research Center (CypERC) and the research laboratory SInnoPSis (Based at CypERC) of the University of Cyprus would like to announce one (1) full-time Postdoctoral Researcher position attached to the project “iRISE" which is funded by the European Union programme “HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-ERA-01-41. Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Applicants should however ensure, before applying, that in case they are selected they will be residing in Cyprus on a full-time basis during the employment period; submission of application implies acceptance of this condition.

Detailed Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be working within the auspices of the WIDERA consortium project iRISE (Improving Reproducibility In SciencE) under the guidance of Dr Zacharias Maniadis in a nascent Economics of Science Lab (SInnoPSis) located in the department of economics at the University of Cyprus.

With the general area of Economics of Science, the Postdoctoral Researcher will actively contribute to the review of the theoretical literature and development of new models. The models will concern assessment of policies to understand and improve reproducibility in science.

The post is initially for a period of 12 months but, after a satisfactory performance during the first year, may be extended for a second year.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF POSTDOCTORAL ResearchER

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be placed in the Economic Research Centre (CypERC), under the supervision of Prof. Zacharias Maniadis, the ERA Chair holder in Science and Innovation Policy and Studies, and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Participation in the design and implementation of research as a collaborator of the supervisor and other members of the SInnoPSis team.
  • Participation in the overall research activities of the SInnoPSis team, including seminars, workshops and networking meetings.
  • Occasional assistance in the organization of such activities.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • A PhD in economics or similar discipline.
  • Specialization in economic theory.
  • A focus on information economics.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • An interest in economics of science, reproducibility of research or meta-science.
  • Previous participation in external grant-related activities.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.

TERMS OF CONTRACT

The employment will be contract-based for one year, and depending on satisfactory progress may be extended for a second year. The monthly gross earnings may come up to €2100 per month.
