The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology oriented Educational and Research Institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of the CyI are pursued at its four Research Centers: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC) and the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C). Considerable cross-center interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.

CaSToRC invites applications from professionals with expertise in the management of computational systems. The successful candidate will work closely with the newly established High Level Support Team (HLST) to support users from the national and regional scientific communities, SMEs and national government departments to fully benefit from the performance and capabilities of available CaSToRC computing systems.

The successful candidate will administer CaSToRC computing systems and their related software as well as provide support to users to access the infrastructure to use it as efficiently as possible and manage their workflows.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be carrying out the following activities:

  • System Administration of CaSToRC computing systems and services
  • System deployment and performance evaluation
  • Systems Monitoring, processing and analysis of hardware/software anomalies towards corrective, progressive, preventative measure for the maintenance of the HPC system
  • System tools development
  • User support – such as software installations, engaging with users and understanding their needs to better configure the infrastructure, system and services.
