CROATIAN GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, Zagreb, Sachsova 2, Croatia, announces a
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
for the position of:
Type I Position – Research Associate  (Researcher_2) on the project “Development of
Geological-Geodetic Methods, Services and GIS Systems for Optimization, Quality
Improvement and Definition of New Commercial Raw Materials in Limestone Quarries
(GEOQUALIS)”, in the field of Natural Sciences, discipline: Geology, or in the field of
Technical Sciences, disciplines: Mining, Petroleum and Geological Engineering,
Environmental Engineering, or Geodesy, at the Department of Geology, for a fixed-term
period of three years, full-time employment, one (1) position.
The expected starting date of employment is 15 July 2026.
Requirements:
1. Completed university graduate study programme, integrated undergraduate and
graduate university study programme, or professional graduate study programme
(Croatian Qualifications Framework level 7.1) in the field of Natural Sciences or Technical
Sciences (Geology, Mining, Petroleum and Geological Engineering, Environmental
Engineering, or Geodesy).
2. Active knowledge of the English language (B2 level or higher).
3. Research experience relevant to the job description.
4. Category B driving licence.
5. Croatian citizenship or eligibility  to work in the Republic of Croatia.
Preferred qualifications:
• Authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications.
• Experience in sedimentology, stratigraphy, mineralogy and geochemistry.
• Experience in managing or participating in projects.
• Experience working on scientific research or development projects funded by EU funds.
• Knowledge of GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial analysis of geological data.
• Programming skills.
• Experience with remote sensing methods.
Job description:

• Project administration.
• Field collection of geological data.
• Laboratory processing of samples.
• Data interpretation and processing.
• Preparation of project reports.
• Writing scientific papers.
• Analysis of spatial data in a GIS environment.
