Offer Description

The Institute is announcing a vacancy for a postdoc position (female/male, 1 executor) for a fixed period until August 6, 2024, with the possibility of extending the fixed-term employment contract for up to two years from the comletion date of the project, in work related to scientific research on the research project of the Croatian Science Foundation entitled 'Laser synthesis of nanoparticles and applications'. The goal of the project is synthesis and incorporation of nanoparticles in polymers for the applications in textile and food packaging materials.

A mandatory requirement is a completed doctorate in the field of natural sciences, physics or chemistry.

Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence in research work (recognitions, awards, scholarships, published works, presentations at conferences, etc.) and who have previous research experience in the field of experimental physics, biophysics and sensorics. Experience in the use of lasers and the synthesis of nanoparticles and their applications is also an advantage. An advantage is experience in using UV-Vis spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy and composition analysis of materials.

This project is based on laser synthesis of colloidal nanoparticle solutions, treatment of textile and food packaging materials with atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) and applications of nanoparticles in photocatalysis and in development of textile and food packaging materials with improved antimicrobial activity, barrier properties and UV protection.

Candidates are expected to have excellent knowledge of physics or chemistry, high motivation to work in the laboratory on the described topics, and excellent knowledge of the English language.
