Post-Doctoral Researcher (Liver Immunology), Department of Biology, Maynooth University

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 07 Jul 2022

Applications are sought for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct research within the Chronic Disease Immunology group of Dr. Mark Robinson. The successful candidate will join a programme of research investigating human liver-resident natural killer (NK) cells in collaboration with clinical hepatology centres based in Dublin and novel 3-D in vitro systems to model liver-specific cellular interactions. This research aims to define the function of liver-resident NK cells and how this cell population changes in the context of fatty liver disease, alcohol abuse and liver cirrhosis.

This post is funded by the financial support of the Health Research Board (HRB). Research in the Robinson Lab aims to explore tissue-resident NK cell function, the impact of NK cells on accelerated biological aging, and the role of the immune response in chronic human liver diseases. The research will combine state-of-the-art approaches in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, transcriptomics, immune signalling, 3D cell culture and clinical patient-orientated research with the aim of defining novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets.
