Creative Technologist (54 month contract), Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 26 Jul 2022

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued.

Due to the recent success in obtaining an ERC Advanced award to Professor Rob Kitchin (Data Stories: Telling Stories About and With Planning and Property Data), we are seeking a creative technologist to work on the project. The creative technologist will have responsibility for overseeing and contributing to the technical aspects of research-creation, being the technical lead on the visual and interactive data stories using spatial data, producing creative media, coordinating the exhibitions, archiving and documentation, and aiding the fieldwork. It is anticipated that the creative media produced might include dashboard storytelling, map-making, visualisation of data in VR, data physicalisations and media art, locative augmented reality in which participants traverse a ‘data path’ with data projected onto the side of buildings, smartphone apps, and map projecting data onto a 3D printed model of Dublin (see http://dashboards.maynoothuniversity.ie/exhibition for examples of previous, related work).

This post will be for 54 months, with an anticipated commencement of 1 October 2022.
