Job Overview: Our client has three language training centers as well as a new international K-12 school opening in the fall, all located in Shanghai, China. They currently require a number of ESL teachers who have at least a bachelor’s degree in any subject, a 120 hours in-class TEFL program certificate, and a passport from from one of the recognized English-speaking countries – UK, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. This is a well-established and growing program with a competitive salary and benefits package, located in one of the most in-demand cities in China.

Benefits: The organization offers a competitive monthly salary of 21,000 RMB per month, with paid public Chinese holidays. Benefits include return airfare, airport pickup, medical insurance, visa assistance and other bonuses. One week free hotel accommodation will be available while the candidate is getting set up. They also offer a professional development program to help non-certified teachers get their certification so they can teach in any international school.

Qualifications: The successful candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and a 120 hours TEFL program certificate (Chinese government regulations stipulate that it cannot be an online certification). They must also have a passport from one of the recognized English-speaking countries – UK, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Additional Details: The position requires 25 teaching hours and 10 office hours per week from Wednesday to Sunday, with classes that are 25-45 minutes in length. Students range from kindergarten to 12-years old. There are also opportunities to receive bonuses for teaching demo classes, signing up students and other optional work. Teachers are usually assigned to work at only one of the three language centers, and if they do work at two centers, they will not have to work at both on the same day. One of the centers is located very close to Shanghai’s city center, and the other two are in the west part of the city, easily accessible by subway.
