About Ocean Institute

Situating in Taicang City, Jiangsu Province, the Ocean Institute of NPU aims to discover cutting-edge scientific and technical issues and their corresponding solutions in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, in order to meet major national needs. The mission is to conduct high-level scientific research and high-level personnel training in Smart Ship Design, Ocean Energy, Ocean Informatics, Smart Oceans, etc. Relying on the discipline of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Ocean Institute has State Key Laboratory on Underwater Information and Control, Key Laboratory of MIIT on Marine Acoustic Information Perception, Professional State Laboratory on Acoustic Engineering and Detection Technology, making the Ocean Institute an ideal highland for talents to enhance marine science and technology.

Qualification of Candidate

Applicant should have a PhD in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Marine Engineering and Technology, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.

For Chair Professor, candidate should have achieved significant academic achievements, and have the ability to catch up with or maintain the leadership in the international academic community.

For Professor, candidate should be capable to carry out forward-looking and leading research in the relevant disciplines, and make important contributions to discipline construction, scientific research, etc.

For Associate Professor, candidate should have achieved outstanding academic achievements in relevant fields.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generous research funds, ample laboratory space and excellent research equipment and support will be provided. All posts are tenure-track. Appointment to Professor rank and some Associate Professor rank will be made on substantive basis while initial appointment to other tenure-track faculty ranks will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years, and re-appointments thereafter will be subject to performance and mutual agreement.
