The School of Economics is seeking exceptional scholars to join us as Assistant Professors/Associate Professors/Professors in Economics. We are particularly interested in economists with teaching and research interests in macroeconomics, development economics, environmental economics, and trade and international economics. 

About the School 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). UNNC is one of three international campuses of the University of Nottingham and first Sino-Foreign University in China. The School of Economics is currently ranked within the top three programs in Zhejiang province and within the top 100 Economics Schools in China in terms of its research and teaching. The School hosts two undergraduate degree program, an MSc degree in economics and a PhD program. It admits undergraduate students in the top 5% of the Gaokao scores and its graduates typically obtain entry into leading UK and North American postgraduate programs. 

In terms of research, the School of Economics has strengths in Behavioral Economics and Applied Econometrics, Health and Public Health, and Development. It hosts four research centres: Centre for Decision Research and Experimental Economics, Centre for Health Economics and the Nottingham Grade Centre, and Centre for Global Economic Policy. The school is currently looking at strengthening its expertise in macroeconomics, trade and areas related to sustainable development. 

About You 

For associate and full professorial roles, we seek to appoint seasoned and proactive leaders who are self-driven and results-oriented, adaptable and creative, with internationally recognized intellectual contributions in your respective field of economics research. Assistant professors will be expected to demonstrate potential for academic growth and development. To be appointed as full professor you are expected to have ideally, more than 10 years of experience in a senior academic leadership role and have experience working with management boards at an academic institution. 

All applicants must have either completed training in PGCHE or equivalent, or have sufficient teaching experience to apply for a fellowship in the Academy of Higher Education; assistant professors will be required successfully to complete PGCHE qualifications during the duration of their contract. 

All candidates are expected to have strong analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills will be crucial in managing internal and external stakeholders. You should possess strong management skills and the ability to motivate team members. Senior candidates (associate/full professor) should have an extensive international network to attract talents and secure resources. Experience in setting and implementing a strategic vision are required. 

For professorial appointments experience of building or leading a research centre would be desirable. You will contribute to development of the School, bringing proven skills in strategic project planning and implementation in a complex organization, as well as experience in leading organisational change.

The successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement.
