Under the supervision of the head physiotherapist, the therapist at the Winsor clinic will be the health care associate responsible in case of a medical emergency (acute injuries and first aid). They will work at the McGill Sport complex for the varsity athletes and as needed for corporate events, summer camp, exam session, etc.

The main responsibilities in relation to the position are:

  • Respond to medical emergencies at the different facility locations (indoors and outdoors) during varsity practices that are communicated by phone, cellphone, and/or walky-talky.
  • Carry out the primary evaluation of acute musculoskeletal injury or trauma and provide high quality first aid care to the McGill clientele.
  • Document all interventions and communicate these to the unit as required.
  • Educate the patient on self-management and refer to the appropriate resource (therapist in clinic, doctor, emergency room, etc.)
  • Collaborate and establish follow up with team therapist
  • Use the established emergency action plan in place for the different areas.
  • Support the athletes in their preparation pre and post training according to best evidence- based practices (warm up, stretches, taping, massage, and modalities).
  • Support and supervise the physiotherapy students and athletic therapist students with their intervention on athletes.
  • Assist with inventory of equipment/materials needs and maintain statistical data. 

Requirements:

Physiotherapist

- Be a member in good standing with l’Ordre professionnel de la Physiotherapie du Quebec and Sport Physiotherapy Canada

- Have at least 1 years of experience of field work with acute traumatic injury management and emergency care

- Have a valid Sports First Responders certification

Athletic therapist

-Bachelor’s in Science of athletic therapy

- Be a member in good standing with Corporation des Thérapeutes du Sport du Québec et de Canadian Athletic Therapist Association

  • Have at least 1 years of experience of field work with acute traumatic injury management and emergency care
  • Have a valid Sports First Responders certification


Minimum Education and Experience:


Bachelor's Degree 1 Year Related Experience with Bachelor’s Degree / DEC III 3 Years Related Experience with DEC III


Annual Salary:


(MPEX Grade 03) $51,190.00 - $63,980.00 - $76,770.00
