Visiting Professor – Public Affairs (Global and International Studies)

The Bachelor of Global and International Studies (BGInS) program at Carleton University invites applications for a Visiting Professor position for a 4 month appointment to be taken during the 2022-23 academic year, either in the Fall (September to December 2022) or Winter (January to April 2023) semester. Area of expertise is open but we are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate an expertise in global Indigenous issues. The successful candidate is expected to be in residence in Ottawa, Canada during the semester of the appointment (please see note regarding pandemic provisions below). The appointment will involve delivering one public lecture, teaching one fourth-year honours seminar in an area of global concern, and engaging with BGInS students, including during weekly office hours.

The Visiting Professor award is for $35,000 CAN. During the term of the award, the Professor will be appointed as a Visiting Professor under Carleton’s policy on visiting appointments.

Note: Should the 2022-23 academic year be conducted online as a result of the ongoing pandemic the public lecture, and student engagement will occur online.

The position is an Open-rank position. Applicants should demonstrate a strong teaching and research record and have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of application.

Launched in 2015, the BGInS program is an interdisciplinary program jointly sponsored by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Public Affairs.  It is housed administratively in the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs.  Over 120 Carleton faculty members, from 18 different academic units, are affiliated with the program.  The BGInS program is unique in Canada in that it offers students and faculty a comprehensive multi- and inter-disciplinary space for teaching, learning, research and policy engagement on issues related to globalization in our contemporary period.  For more information on BGInS, please consult the program website: https://carleton.ca/bgins .
