User Experience Designer (student, part-time)

Description:

Support the design and development team by giving user interface insights and testing for quality assurance, analyzing user challenges, and identifying enhancement opportunities. The designer will need to understand UX/UI best practices, including wireframing, usability testing, and prototype design. In addition, a good understanding of different testing practices and the ability to critically analyze testing results is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Designing within existing – and creating new – standards to contribute to our internal design system, best practices, and guidelines.
• Creating process and user flows, wireframes, journey maps, and interaction models, resulting in low to high-fidelity prototypes.
• Creating high-fidelity design assets for acceptance, development, and delivery to market in partnership with the development team.
• Advise and support the development of UX/UI best practices and brand standards according to client needs.
• Collaborate, organize, and deliver B2B presentations to clients.
• Conduct usability testing and test user scenarios to identify bugs and inconsistencies across operating systems (iOS and Android).
• Analyze representative user behaviour to enhance the tool’s ease of use and efficiency.

Skills:

• Strong visual design skills, able to create compelling, branded, high-fidelity product screens.
• Concise written and verbal communication with the ability to transcribe and articulate conceptual ideas and testing results to the team.
• Efficient organizational practices for file management and tasks.
• Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility 2.1 Guidelines.
• Knowledge and experience designing wireframes and interactive prototypes using industry software (e.g., Sketch, Figma and InVision).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in the University of Toronto iSchool co-op program.
• Curriculum preferably in User Experience Design, Human Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or other relevant fields of study.
• 3+ months of work experience (including school projects) that focuses on functional design.
• Fluent in English.
• Solid portfolio demonstrating impactful customer experiences, including experience developing digital products from initial concept to implementation.
• Mobile design experience or projects are an asset.
