Your opportunity:

Working under the direct supervision of the Transportation Modelling Group (TMG) Director, the Transportation Network Modeller will be responsible for developing and maintaining TMG transportation network modelling capabilities. This person will work closely with other TMG staff to continually improve TMG travel demand modelling capabilities and to support TMG’s mission of improving urban travel demand modelling capabilities within the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area (GTHA). The incumbent will be responsible for both developing improved network modelling tools and for assisting in the training of partner agencies’ staff in the use of these tools.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Formatting data collected for presentations and reports
  • Drafting summaries of research project results
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
  • Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Analyzing results and preparing statistical reports for research papers
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance

Essential Qualifications:

  • B.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of related experience in the use of transportation network modelling software systems
  • Excellent report writing, presentation and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong technical and analytical skills relating to transportation network analysis and modelling, including how network models interface with other components of the travel demand modelling process


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with EMME/4 transportation network modelling software system
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and C#
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information System software, such as ArcGIS
