NOTE: This is a temporary position ending on or before April 30, 2026 with the possibility of extension.
As part of NAIT’s mission to be Canada's most relevant and responsive post-secondary institution, the School of Health and Life Sciences aims to drive the evolution of healthcare education in Alberta. A great program needs great instructors, and the NAIT Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program is now recruiting a part-time instructor to join their team. Candidates for this position should be energetic leaders of students, have well-developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, be committed to student motivation and achievement, work independently within established policies, be dedicated to a service model, and work cooperatively as a team member.
This program is delivered both online and in-person, with most labs being held in person on campus and/or at an off-site clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct virtual and in-person site visits with the students and clinical partner sites in both Alberta and Saskatchewan
- Monitor and evaluate students’ progress and completion of competency-based objectives during clinical
- Provide preceptor orientations, training, and ongoing support
- Respond to student issues and provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring to maximize student success and retention
- Elicit and analyze regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Prepare and present learning materials and activities in the program; virtually, in-person, and in lab settings
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional and coaching strategies that support student success
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, and program promotions
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, patients, colleagues, and Clinical Partners
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Some evening and/or weekend hours for site visit travel, lab instruction, and other educational events may be required in certain semesters
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities:
- Computer skills are essential
- Experience in delivery of adult education is desirable
Qualifications:
- A Diploma or Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging from a recognized post-secondary institute
- A related Bachelor’s degree (in health sciences, or science, preferred) is an asset.
- 2-5 years of recent, relevant clinical experience as an MRI Technologist
- CAMRT certification in MRI, ACMDTT registration in MRI is required
- IV Certification is required
- Annual certification in BLS for HCP may be required
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
- Immunizations’ status and police information checks, as required by the program, may be requested
Remuneration: $38,996.88 - $67,838.32 annually (based on a 21.75 work week), plus 18.5% in lieu of annual vacation and statutory holidays (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
