This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).                                             

In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Officer (TLAPO) Agreement , this position is a full time, temporary position at the Librarian I level with a current salary range of $63,009- $125,943 per annum. The appointment period is Dec 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025. Role:                                                     

Reporting to the Head, Faculty Engagement (Social Sciences & Humanities), the Librarian provides expert information services, including consultation, education and research support for faculty, students, and staff in the College of Social Sciences & Humanities. This includes specialized services around digital scholarship, research data management, and research impact.

The Librarian develops, teaches, and evaluates curriculum based courses and workshops, sections of courses, or single instructional sessions or workshops.

The Librarian contributes to the delivery of the full range of library services and access to resources through the use of technology, evidence based-practices and sharing information with colleagues. The Librarian works collegially, cooperatively and in a self-directed manner to provide innovative, high quality services and programs to all university library clientele.

Qualifications

Required:                                                

  • Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution;
  • Awareness of trends in social science and humanities research and teaching
  • Evidence of ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Flexibility, the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills                           

Preferences:

  • Previous experience in an academic setting is desired
  • Previous experience teaching and providing consultation and reference support in the subject area of business
