Position Summary:
Varsity Strength and Conditioning Technical Specialists are responsible for aiding McGill's strength and conditioning initiatives to help ensure the physical preparation of McGill’s student-athletes.  This seasonal position primarily focuses on assisting student-athletes in the varsity weight room, but may include supporting administrative duties, and other sport science initiatives.  
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of on-site strength and conditioning sessions for varsity student-athletes.  
  • Coaches/assist athletes’ to ensure proper technique that limits the risk of injury. 
  • Utilize McGill’s online strength and conditioning software/portal as requested, from a multi-sport and/or team aspect.
  • Assist in the administering of athlete monitoring, and testing initiatives including both the entry and collection of data.
  • Attend meetings with McGill strength and conditioning coaches as directed to ensure consistency, and establish an optimal training environment.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and optimal training environment.

The seasonal position will run from February 20th to April 30th.  Sessions will be approximate 90-minutes Monday evenings and/or weekends.  Coaches should ensure they have Monday evening/weekend availability before applying. 


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • B.Sc. Kinesiology/Human Kinetics/Exercise Science, or pursing a related undergraduate degree
  • Experience as an elite athlete, strength coach, or technical coach, leading relevant programming/training in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing
