Under the direction of the Archivist and Chief, Information Management you will be responsible for providing senior authoritative advice, key specialist support and recommendations on the definition and on-going management of the strategic elements that support the Senate’s Information Management (IM) program, including IM policy instruments, standards, systems, tools, models and best practices.

You will lead, manage, supervise and coordinate the efforts of the IM team working on the on-going delivery of IM complex systems (including EDRMS), solutions, projects and initiatives to ensure an integrated and consistent means for organizing, managing, protecting, sharing, using and disposing of the Senate Administration information.

In this role you will be responsible for leading and managing the performance of the IM Program, the quality assurance of systems, the process change and the compliance by clients to the IM policy instruments requirements.

You will also oversee the management of the Archives of the Parliaments and of the Senate (including preservation and restoration; environmental conditions of storage; digitization; transfers and access to; arrangement and description in accordance with accepted archival principles, standards and practices); to ensure that they are preserved for future access.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate (Permanent, Full-time) position in the Information Services Directorate. This selection process may be used to staff other similar positions.

Prerequisites
• A university degree from a recognized university with specialization in Information Sciences, Archival Studies or Library Science or an acceptable combination of experience, education and/or training directly related to the position;
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in IM including design, delivery and support of complex* IM systems, solutions, services, projects or initiatives;
• Significant** experience supervising or leading a team to deliver IM systems, solutions, services, projects or initiatives related to IM (including organizing and delegating workload as well as monitoring progress, motivating and providing guidance and support to achieve the objectives on time);
• Significant** experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to managers on complex IM issues;
• Knowledge of IM theories, principles, best practices and trends; and of IM federal legislation and policy instruments;
• Knowledge of project management methods and techniques and of leadership to guide, support and motivate a team as well as facilitate communication to achieve goals in time and enhance productivity;
• Experience with managing archival records in accordance with accepted archival principles, standards and practices is considered as an asset;
• Knowledge of theories, principles, methodologies and best practices relating to management, preservation, conservation and safeguarding of archival records including selecting, acquiring, arranging and describing archival records and making them available for continuing use under defined conditions is considered as an asset.

** Significant is defined as experience normally acquired over a period of three (3) years on a full-time basis; and as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task.
