This posting is for one unionized contractual appointment. A Teaching Assistant is a McGill Graduate Student employed to assist the Course Supervisor as a Teaching Assistant in a classroom environment. Teaching Assistant Positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM).

Position Summary & Required Duties:

The Teaching Assistant will:

  • Answer questions on topics covered during the lectures and help prepare reading materials.

  • Assist students with any required software tools for the course, in person or remotely

  • Help with grading assignments and papers, as needed.

  • Be available two (2) office hours per week on a regular schedule, either in person or through a remote platform (i.e. Zoom).

  • Coordinate guest lectures, remote or in person, as required


Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching, leading group discussions and responding to questions on sustainability and design.

  • Familiar with concepts relating to alternative energy solutions, energy and power density, energy supplies and generations methods.

  • Working knowledge of energy systems and green building.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with students from variety of disciplinary backgrounds (SEAD 510 includes students from most/all Schools and Departments in the Faculty of Engineering).

  • Language requirements, English spoken/written (French is an asset).
