This supplemental posting is for one unionized contractual appointment that spans one academic year. A Teaching Assistant is a McGill Graduate Student employed to assist the Course Supervisor as a Teaching Assistant in a classroom environment. Teaching Assistant Positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM) .

Total Hours of Work per Term: 45 per term (90 total for F22/W23)
Position Summary:
This requisition is for one position, at 45 hours per term , in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology. Effective dates of appointment are August 21 to December 10, 2022 and January 1 to April 22, 2023. Course dates are August 31 to December 5, 2022 and January 4 to April 13, 2023.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Marking

  • Preparing Class Materials

  • Leading Discussion Groups

  • Assisting Students' learning (i.e., giving feedback and being available to answer questions)

  • Attending classes, particularly the final poster session, is required (Mondays from 6:05PM to 8:55PM)


Qualifications:

  • MA or PhD student with advanced writing skills

  • Exerience using myCourses for coruse management

  • Experience writing a thesis and/or publishing an article is an asset

  • Knowledge in French may be required

Please note that, government directives permitting, most courses will be taught in-person. Teaching Assistants will therefore be required on campus to perform their tasks in person.  Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of in-person teaching activities, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Teaching Assistants will be advised as soon as possible.  Teaching Assistants may be required to perform tasks suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system.
