Position Summary:


The McGill Summer Academy Monitors will be responsible for supporting smooth delivery of all extra-curricular and sightseeing components of the Summer Academy program. This position reports directly to the Program Manager, to ensure high-quality delivery of all aspects of the program. The duration of the position is from July 3rd-August 3rd, 2024. All interested candidates must be available full-time for the In-Person session (July 3rd to August 3, 2024), including some overnight shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the health and safety of students.
  • Supervising activities, meals, and free time in residences.
  • Accompanying students to morning classes, and afternoon and evening activities.
  • Attending to students’ concerns, reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Participating in daily team meetings with Team Leaders and Managers.
  • Sharing in 24 hour coverage during the In-Person dates (accommodation will be provided for overnight shifts).
  • Participating in activities as a role model of appropriate enthusiasm and social skills.
  • Ensuring that students are abiding by program rules and regulations, including bed-time and wake-up time.

Qualifications:

Experience working with culturally-diverse youth (ages 15-18) in group settings. Familiarity and knowledge about both McGill and Montreal. Strong customer service, empathy & communication skills. Hard working, ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to adapt to new situations and to be flexible with change. Ability to provide current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check. First Aid certified (an asset). Second Language (an asset). Experience in live-in and/or international camp situations (an asset).
