Position Summary:

Cancer prevention and control in low-and-middle income countries


Successful applicants will work closely on various ongoing projects on my areas of interest:

(1) Investigating the effectiveness of community-based cancer prevention in low-income settings and developing countries.

(2) Understanding the unique characteristics of small island health systems (e.g. overseas travel for care) and their impact on outcomes of patients diagnosed with cancer and other chronic illnesses.

(3) Strengthening of health research capacity in low-and-middle income countries.


Data entry responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring appropriate turnaround time on all data entry

  • Reviewing and entering data information into the appropriate databases

  • Proactively verifying data through source documents

  • Monitoring and updating existing data when required.

  • Retrieving data for team members upon request

  • Performing data searches to rectify erroneous entries.

  • Complying with security backups and regular checkups to ensure the safety of the data being stored.

Students will also participate in some of the following activities:

  • Designing of a data-entry template to build a data base on cancer screening.

  • Conduct bibliographic reviews on topics relevant to the PIs research areas.

  • Prepare research ethics application, da. sharing agreements and progress reports.

  • Communicate with co-investigators and collaborators.

  • Analyze and interpret data from research studies.

  • Preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.


Qualifications:
- Active McGill student

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.
