The Opportunity
The Solutions Architect (Smartsheet) will work closely with the Centre for Applied Education and Innovation (CAEI) leadership team to build on the existing customized Smartsheet implementation – to provide technical, data analysis and solutions support – to support institutional program portfolio management – program lifecycle, including concept to end-of-life program.
Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Applied Education Innovation, the Solutions Architect will assist in the refinement and enhancement of the current architecture and processes and to assist in the development and deployment of the resource management/capacity planning utilizing the Smartsheet platform.
All work is focused on strategically and tactically developing effective systems and processes to support the management of program portfolio planning.  This will help enable enhanced decision making and program prioritization, and provide increased transparency and visibility.
The Role
    • Function as the CAEI lead for overall improvements and enhancements to configuration of the department’s Smartsheet project management solution.
    • Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage the Smartsheet platform, and possible API applications.
    • Within this role you will be considered the Subject Matter Expert pertaining to advanced Smartsheet functionalities in order to propose solutions.
    • Design, develop, modify, test and document automated reporting solutions and dashboards to enable stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.
    • Smartsheet Resource Management:  Design, develop, migrate data, test, and document training materials to implement the Resource Management module for project tracking and capacity planning.
    • Develop customized reports, dashboards and visually stunning interfaces to maintain and thereby analyze the data. 
    • Develop tools, processes and best practices to ensure customers are realizing the greatest possible value from Smartsheet.
    • Proactively identify gaps in training, lack of clarity or understanding of end users, and propose solutions to address the gaps.
    • Gain and maintain deep technical knowledge of Smartsheet including premium products, providing feedback to the leadership team that informs additional product and functionality opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience
    • Minimum
    • Information Technology Systems Diploma.
    • 2+ years of experience with Smartsheet functional areas like Control Center, Workspaces, Sheets or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.
    • Proficient in systems architecture and ability to design scalable solutions.

    • Preferred
    • 1+ years of experience as a Smartsheet Platform Administrator, Specialist and/or Developer is an asset.
    • Knowledge of data integration tools and experience integrating applications with different business systems (Banner, DigArc, Tableau, etc.) an asset.

    • Skills required
    • Strong project management skills with experience driving projects from concept through to completion with minimal guidance.           
    • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation), with the ability to explain technical subjects to non-technical end user personnel.
    • Effective data analysis skills. 
    • Passion to understand Smartsheet’s features, use cases, business and technical elements.
    • In addition to complementing the technical competencies of the role, overwhelmingly demonstrate the capabilities of curiosity, critical thinking, connection, citizenship and creativity.
    • Strong professional, independent thinking skills with strength in problem solving and the ability to offer constructive opinions and creative solutions.
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity.
    • Ability to summarize and communicate important data.
    • Passion for data visualization and analytics products.
    • Capable of building and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholder groups.
    • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management, and diverse audiences.
    • Highly motivated, hands on, resourceful team-player, who enjoys working with people.

Job Classification: Project Coordinator
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation/14 Flex Days per year
Hours Per Week: 37.5
