Course number and title: HMB204H1S - Introduction to Human Biology - co-teaching

Course description: An introduction to the biological, environmental, and sociopolitical issues that influence human health and well-being. Topics include genetic variation within and across human populations, biological variation related to the environment, determinants of health and disease, and human behaviour and development.

Estimated course enrolment: 75 students 

Estimated TA Support: 120 hours (to be confirmed)

Class schedule:  Lectures on Mondays & Wednesdays from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (online)

Sessional dates of appointment: July 1, 2024 - August 31, 2024


Salary (0.25FCE):: 

Sessional Lecturer 1: $4,728.95.

Sessional Lecturer 1(Long-Term): $4,965.40.

Sessional Lecturer 2: $5,060.89.

Sessional Lecturer 2 (Long-Term): $5,163.31.

Sessional Lecturer 3: $5,181.38.

Sessional Lecturer 3 (Long-Term): $5,285.01.

All inclusive of vacation pay.

Minimum qualifications:  Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. (or equivalent) with recent scholarly contributions in Human Biology research and experience in undergraduate teaching.

Description of duties:

  • Co-preparing of course syllabus and course marking scheme;
  • Co-teaching weekly lectures and tutorials;
  • Co-marking assignments and exams;
  • Providing office hours for academic counselling of students;
  • Co-setting and marking assignments/exams;
  • Co-administrating course in accordance with University regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors;
  • Co-supervising TAs.
