Course description: In this course, current issues related to mathematics instruction and their theoretical underpinnings will be explored. We will examine research related to this issues and how the impact they can have on classroom programming. Candidates will have an opportunity to discuss their personal beliefs and views about mathematics education as they bridge theory with practice. Instruction in this course will include lecture, written response, group activities, and group investigations.

Salary: As of September 1, 2026, the minimum stipend is $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course.
As of January 1, 2027, the minimum stipend is $ $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with math curriculum development, designing, and facilitating lessons Strong listening and communication skills Commitment to student learning and support Collaborative and works well as a member of a team A background in teaching is an asset, with relevant teacher experiences in K-12 settings in mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications: An Ontario Teaching Certificate is an asset
Description of duties: TA responsibilities: 1. Attend all classes and support students during class time (Tues. 9-12 noon and Tues. 1-4 pm) 2. Mark assignments (4 cohorts) 3. Oversee one asynchronous class 4. Assist with questions (email and face to face) 5. Help with room and materials preparation - arrive at 8:30 am to help set up room 6. Hold office hours for TCs who require support (upon request) Prepare, organize, and teach this graduate course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.
Attend a pre-course planning/preparation meeting with the course instructional team, attend MT All-Instructor Meetings (AIM) and submit course syllabus as requested by the department
