Course Number and Title: CRI494H1 - Advanced Topics in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies (Topics: Local Justice Programs Collaborative Research Project)

Course description: In this 4th year research seminar, students collaborate to conduct an environmental scan of all diversion, alternative and youth justice programs available in Toronto. We will create an accessible navigation 'guide' to the programs, and share it widely through outreach to community and government justice practitioners. In addition (time permitting) we may also conduct interviews with program staff to create short podcast episodes sharing information about justice programming in Toronto. Both these forms of knowledge dissemination (the guide and the podcast episodes) will support future research in this important area. The course will support the development of students' research, collaboration, outreach, interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills.

Sessional dates: September 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024

Salary:

• Sessional Lecturer I $9,457.90

• Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term $9,930.79

• Sessional Lecturer II $10,121.77

• Sessional Lecturer III $10,362.76

Minimum qualifications: PhD in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies

Preferred qualifications: Expertise in the histories of legal aid, Indigenous justice, and the Canadian legal-administrative state; teaching experience across diverse institutions and law and society disciplines; track record of award-wining publications in field-leading journals.

Description of duties: The design, preparation and delivery of course content in-class, including teaching lectures or seminars; creation of courseware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; supervising TAs; the marking and grading of student work, and the submission of grades to the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies in accordance with established policies.
