Course description:

This course provides an overview of the field of molecular biology, including DNA replication, DNA repair, homologous recombination, genome structure, chromatin regulation, transcription cycle, RNA splicing, translation, and genetic code. The course will enable students to learn the fundamental concepts of molecular biology and master critical thinking and problem-solving in the field of molecular biology.(0.5 FCE)

Effective January 1, 2023 - Sessional Lecturer I - $18,364.84 (Y, full course) & $9,182.42 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE) & $4,591.21 (0.25 FCE); Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $19,283.09 (Y, full course) & $9,641.55 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer II - $19,653.91 (Y, full course) & $9,826.96 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $20,051.68 (Y, full course) & $10,025.84 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer III - $20,121.86 (Y, full course) & $10,060.93 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE). Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $20,524.30 (Y, full course) & $10,262.15 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay.

Qualifications:The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.

Description of duties:Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours.  Completion of all grades (may include make-up exams).
