Course Number & Title: BTC1877H – Data Science in Health II
Course Description: This graduate course equips students to tackle massive data sets in health. The focus will be on advanced statistical tests in machine learning and assemble such tests by accessing and validating publicly available code in the R programming language and creating their own code as needed. Students will also learn additional techniques pertaining to web scraping, working with unstructured data, data cleaning and data governance, building upon the course Data Science in Health Part I. The course will emphasize creative approaches to analyzing data and how to be critical of misleading analysis.

Estimated Size of Appointment: 30-50 hours
Sessional Dates of Appointment: Specific duties will occur between September 7th, 2022 and December 21st, 2022. All duties will be conducted online.
Salary: Effective Jan 1, 2022, the following rates apply: $47.17 per hour + 4% vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. The rate of pay is established by the Collective Agreement between Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3902 Unit 1 and the University of Toronto.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate or advanced degree in biostatistics or similar quantitative field, experience with machine learning, fluency in R statistical language
Preferred Qualifications: Same as “Minimum Qualifications”
