Position Description

The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to co-teach ENFD 111 – Bioengineering Foundations in the Winter 2024 term. The course is scheduled to be delivered in-person.

Course Description:
Students will gain an understanding of foundational concepts in mechanics, optics, electromagnetism, and atomic physics and their applications in the field of bioengineering. Through interactive experiments, students will actively explore and solve associated problems related to living systems. This course will integrate Indigenous perspectives in problem solving and includes contextual examples that build upon real-world examples and applications.

Course Schedule (Jan. 8 – Apr.9, 2024):
Lecture: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9:00am – 9:50am
Lab: Tuesday 8:00am – 10:45am
Tutorial: Thursday 9:30am – 10:45am

Qualifications:

  • MSc in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or related discipline; PhD preferred
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in a closely related course
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness

This position will primarily be responsible for the circuits/electromagnetism/atomic physics concepts of the course but may also teach Newtonian physics.
