This is a term postion that will end approximatly on December 2024, with possibility of extension.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Research Alliance, the Reach Alliance Senior Strategic Communications Officer is responsible for coordinating marketing and outreach for the Reach Alliance. The Senior Strategic Communications Officer will develop and implement marketing plans to promote the Reach Alliance and advise on best practices. They will be responsible for creating, editing and producing materials and maintaining the Reach Alliance's online platforms, and will collaborate with students, faculty mentors, staff and freelancers to generate content and to grow the Reach Alliance brand.

To be successful in this position, the incumbent will work with external partners, foster relationships with stakeholders and support the implementation of key initiatives and events, including the Reach Symposium. The Senior Strategic Communications Officer will also monitor and report on the success of outreach campaigns and continuously analyze/assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementingmarketing plans to promote programs, events and/or initiatives that support strategic objectives
  • Developing and implementing marketing plans to support business development and revenue-generating strategies and/or activities
  • Implementing marketing plans to strengthen brand profiles
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
  • Producing promotional and outreach materials
  • Implementing marketing project plans
  • Consulting with clients regarding the development of project scope and resources

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Global Affairs or equivalent combination of experience and education. Master level degree in Human Rights & Humanitarian is an asset.
  • Minimum five years of recent and relevant experience in media, communications, advertising, or public relations in a research institute or non-for-profit sector, working with national and international multidisciplinary teams, partners, and stakeholders in Canada and low/middle-income countries.
  • Experience working on issues related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and reaching hard to reach populations is a must
  • Experience working with or coordinating across different stakeholder groups, including the private sector, public sector, civil society and universities
  • Experience working in larger project teams, including relevant expertise in managing the design, implementation and evaluation of digital communications strategies/plans
  • Experienced and highly skilled at writing and editing, including crafting social media posts, writing web content and e-newsletters and related items
  • Experience ensuring that digital communication collateral adheres to brand identity and relevant style guides
  • Experience in editing, reviewing and communicating academic work to the general public
  • Experience using Google AdWords and related tools
  • Demonstrated experience in website and social media management, including the ability to measure and assess the success of digital communications strategies,experience creating animated / video posts for social media platforms
  • Experience in editing, reviewing and communicating academic work to the general public

  • Exceptionally skilled at using social media channels (including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube), with proven experience managing a branded account
  • Knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Advanced proficiency using content management systems for website management (eg. WordPress) ; Advanced proficiency using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere/Rush)
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining editorial / content calendars
  • Advanced proficiency using of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
  • Proven experience using social media management tools (eg. Hootsuite / Sprout Social); Proficiency at creating reports using Google Analytics and other reporting tools
  • Strong understanding off and commitment to the university's equity principles

  • Fluency in French is considered a strong asset
