Position Summary

Design and conduct scientific research specifically as it relates to parasitism and the ecology of fear under the direction of the Principal Investigator.

Duties

  • Maintains and cultures Drosophila fruit fly colony
  • Develops research experiments in consultation with the Principal Investigator
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets data relating to research
  • Troubleshoots experimental protocols
  • In consultation with the Principal Investigator, develops and documents research methods and protocols

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Ecology or Evolution
  • Experience working with host-parasite systems
  • Experience with trouble-shooting biological/laboratory assays
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to facilitate interactions with a range of users including students, PDFs, PI's, and administrators
  • Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using small animal respirometry system
  • Proficient in data analysis using R
  • Experience working with Drosophila organisms
