Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Advancement Services, the Senior Data Management Officer conducts full lifecycle data analysis for the Department of University Advancement, including data quality assurance and integrity, data governance and benchmarking. The incumbent is responsible for uncovering and analyzing concerns, seeking solutions in consultation with multiple stakeholders and ensuring that the changes are implemented.

The Senior Data Management Officer is responsible for the functionality and integrity of Banner Advancement and other databases, DUA Share (SharePoint) and will represent the department on the Data Administration Working Group. This role is also responsible for coordinating and conducting training and ongoing professional learning modules including the wikis.


Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Extensive experience with donor-focused database management best practices.
• Possess solid knowledge of data governance and data management principles and practices.
• Detail oriented with an extraordinary commitment to accuracy.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in both independent and team-oriented in a fast-paced environment to achieve goals and deadlines.
• Must have strong skills and fluency in software used in data analysis and reporting including office productivity applications, presentation tools, CRMs, databases and other applications. Must be able to keep current on developments in this area; and the ability to adapt to a changing electronic environment.
• Excellent knowledge of the university’s structure, procedures, policies and regulations.
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills; must have the ability to organize work effectively in a fast-paced office environment, set priorities and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Ability to act with discretion, tact and diplomacy when dealing with staff, faculty members/contract instructors, students and the external community/partners.
• Must have demonstrated excellence with time management skills; must have the ability to simultaneously work on several assignments with pressures of multiple demands, interruptions and changing priorities.
• Experience providing supervision to staff.
• Sound judgment, superior organizational skills and initiative are required to coordinate a heavy and complex workload;
• Tact, discretion and confidentiality must be exercised when dealing with students, faculty/contract instructors, and the public;
• The ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively;
• Must have an ability for problem solving and exercise resourcefulness;
• Must be capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines and must be able to prioritize work with a high degree of accuracy and speed.


Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Completion of an honours University degree with a preference for completion of an advanced degree.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in database management, records quality, training and leadership in donor/fundraising data integrity.
