Position Summary

The Research Assistant supports the team in coordinating all project deliverables. The focus of the project is increasing support for bereaved caregivers through offering services to bereaved caregivers and equipping health and social service professionals through developing trainings and resources on caregiver bereavement. This position is a 1-year full-time contract.

Primary responsibilities

Project organization: managing numerous deliverables simultaneously, ensuring each are on track, managing databases and coordination with other parties, managing project budgets and finances Caregiver support: providing support to bereaved caregivers during consultations, intake and feedback calls, potential for running bereavement support workshops/groups with caregivers Teamwork & collaboration: with team members, networking and relationship-building with stakeholders Strong written and oral skills: presenting the project to stakeholders, writing ethics applications, articles, reports to funders, website content, etc. Clinical supervision: undergraduate and graduate social work students and volunteers

Qualifying skills and/or abilities

  • Master of Social Work degree or equivalent
  • Strong clinical skills with vulnerable populations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Bilingual (60% English, 40% French, including written communications, presentations and caregiver support)
  • Strong written and oral skills
  • Knowledge of the fields of caregiving, bereavement, social gerontology, field education
  • Ability to work independently & be self-motivated

Assets

  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ)
  • Experience in research
  • Experience supervising social work field placements
