CADTH is an independent, not-for-profit organization responsible for providing Canada’s health care decision-makers with objective evidence to help make informed decisions about the optimal use of drugs and medical devices in our health care system. Given changes in the pharmaceutical landscape, new and emerging opportunities for CADTH to work with Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Canadian Drug Agency Transition Office (CDA-TO), decision makers and health partners, additional centralized capacity is required to assess, plan for and support decisions regarding an organizational response.

Primary Focus
The Research Information Technician (RIT) will contribute to CADTH’s mission, business, and products through information source retrieval, management and stewardship of CADTH library resources.

On any given day, you will:
• Function as an embedded project team member

• Provide citation verification, document sourcing and delivery services via a variety of methods, including interlibrary loans (60%)

• Manage CADTH library collection through management of physical circulation system, cataloguing of materials (including copy and original cataloguing), management of electronic serials, acquisition of new materials including books and newspapers, as well as processing invoices for subscriptions and purchases (25%)

• Support CADTH’s core business needs through providing additional library services, including media monitoring, research project and publishing support, permissions, and copyright support (15%)

Is this the right role for you?
The Research Information Technician will likely have:

• 2- or 3-year Library and Information Technician Diploma/Certification plus related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

• Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience of current interlibrary loan software (e.g., DOCLINE), practices and resources

• Basic searching skills and knowledge or awareness of the structure of biomedical and technical databases

• Knowledge and experience of searching and maintaining electronic serials management databases e.g., EBSCO Full Text Finder

• Working knowledge of international standards of cataloguing and classification systems such as RDA, as well as knowledge of indexing vocabularies such as MeSH

• Knowledge of standard office software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook), with advanced knowledge of Excel preferred

• High attention to detail and precision

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deliverables

• Ability to work closely and collaborate with colleagues in a fast-paced environment
