Department of Chemistry (Professor Eric McCalla)

Position Summary:

The research associate will lead a project in the combinatorial design of amorphous solid electrolytes for all-solid lithium batteries. The associate is also expected to perform some lab management duties.

•   Perform high-throughput experiments, analyse the results
•   Produce monthly reports, and present to industrial partners
•   Assist in supervising students working on the project
• Perform lab management duties such as coordinate lab maintenance and perform regular maintenance of important equipment in the lab including the glovebox

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

•     ability to perform and analyse combinatorial X-ray diffraction experiments
•     ability to perform and analyse combinatorial cyclic voltammetry experiments
•     ability to perform and analyse combinatorial electrochemical impedance spectroscopy experiments
•    ability to perform combinatorial synthesis of battery materials and develop new synthesis techniques
•   communicate efficiently in English
•   able to use various software including HighScore and Origin 

Experience and education: PhD in Chemistry or related subject, and 5 years post-doctoral experience in battery materials research.
