Department of Mathematics and Statistics


Position Summary:

  • Conduct Experiments: Finite Element Analysis; Computational Modeling of Human Heart, and Circulatory System; Analyzing Biomedical Images especially cardiac MRI; Abaqus including creation, meshing, validation and debugging; Machine Learning that may involve Python programming, data collection, and the use of advanced technologies.

  • Literature Review: Stay abreast of current literature and research developments in the field. Summarize and integrate relevant information to contribute to the overall research strategy.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including researchers, scientists, and students. Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

  • Documentation and Writing Research Papers: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, methodologies, and results. Prepare reports and scientific papers to submit to international conferences.


Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to learning new skills and techniques related to Statistical Machine Learning.

  • PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Mechanics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Statistics.

  • Proven experience in a research setting, with a track record of successful publication.

  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
