Position Summary:
Run a research program that investigates cellular and molecular mechanisms of chronic inflammatory and infectious diseases.
Overseeing tri-council funded projects, co-supervision of undergraduate & graduate students (including trouble-shooting and analyzing data)
Assisting in grant applications and manuscript preparation and revisions
Mouse experiments, treatments/immunizations/infections, tissue harvest, single-cell preparations
Mouse colony management, breeding, weaning, genotyping
Advanced flow cytometry staining and analysis of murine and human cells
Immunological assays (ELISA, cell-based assays)
Molecular and cell biology techniques: qRT-PCR, genotyping, cloning, WB
Tissue culture of cell lines and primary cells from mouse tissues and human whole blood or tissue samples
Support lab organization (ordering, MMP, procurement documenting, reagent overview, upholding Environmental Health & Safety guidelines)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Biomedical education or a Ph.D. and at least 5 years of research experience. Advanced skillset in mouse models, mouse colony management, advanced flow cytometry & data analysis, immunological assays, molecular and cellular biology techniques including tissue culture, qRT-PCR, WB, cloning, flow cytometry and human PBMCs.
Background in immunology, microbiology, mouse modelling, and human cellular work.
OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS & ABILITIES
In addition, very strong lab organizational skills (ordering, MMP, procurement documenting, reagent overview, EHS guidelines) and a self-driven and outgoing personality are of essence. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with lab members to foster a team environment.
