Department of Psychology (Professor Rosemary Bagot)
Position Summary:
- Develop and conduct research projects- plan specific experiments to test hypotheses about the role of a novel genetic modulator in resilience circuits.
- Read and interpret new literature to integrate the latest findings in the field
- Perform mouse stereotaxic surgery to manipulate gene expression and express chemogenetic actuators
- Run mouse behavioral experiments to test social interaction, anxiety-like behaviour and reward learning
- Perform wet lab work such as histology/immunohistochemistry to probe gene expression and validate viral targeting
- Prepare and write grant applications in collaboration with primary supervisor.
- Data analysis with prism and Python
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of software for running behavioral experiments
- Bbasic computer skils
- Experience working with RNA
- Good organization skills
- Expertise with statistical analysis of data
- Animal handling
- Attention to detail
- Able to work independently and in collaboration with other
Experience and education:
- PhD degree in neuroscience or related field
