Department of Psychology (Professor Rosemary Bagot)


Position Summary:

  • Develop and conduct research projects- plan specific experiments to test hypotheses about the role of a novel genetic modulator in resilience circuits.
  • Read and interpret new literature to integrate the latest findings in the field
  • Perform mouse stereotaxic surgery to manipulate gene expression and express chemogenetic actuators
  • Run mouse behavioral experiments to test social interaction, anxiety-like behaviour and reward learning
  • Perform wet lab work such as histology/immunohistochemistry to probe gene expression and validate viral targeting
  • Prepare and write grant applications in collaboration with primary supervisor.
  • Data analysis with prism and Python


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of software for running behavioral experiments
  • Bbasic computer skils
  • Experience working with RNA
  • Good organization skills
  • Expertise with statistical analysis of data
  • Animal handling
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and in collaboration with other

Experience and education

  • PhD degree in neuroscience or related field
