Your Opportunity:

Prof. Leonard Tsuji, in the Department of Health and Society at the University of Toronto Scarborough, invites applicants for the position of Research Associate (Limited Term) to conduct community-based collaborative research in climate change, food security, agroecosystems, Indigenous peoples, and health & wellness.

This opportunity of a Research Associate (Limited Term) is a 1-year appointment and the anticipated start date is April 1, 2024.

Job Duties:

The candidate will be responsible for the conceptualization, execution, communication, and dissemination of interdisciplinary research as directed by Prof. Leonard Tsuji. Beyond these responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the preparation of research presentations; grant applications; writing of research papers and reports; and research supervisions of students and other trainees. At all times, the individual is expected to support the overall research and teaching missions of Prof. Tsuji’s research group.

Qualifications (Minimum Qualifications):

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Sustainable Agriculture with national and international research experiences, and at least four (4) years of postdoctoral experience, with demonstrated academic and research excellence. Excellence is to be demonstrated through publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, and a proven track record of community-based experiences in Indigenous communities. In addition, the candidate must have demonstrated experience in preparing manuscripts for submission to peer-review publications / journals, and previous experience assisting with writing and submitting successful research proposals for grants. Demonstrated experience presenting research findings at conferences/seminars and at the community level. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work positively with others in a collaborative work environment, as well as independently. Applicants are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.

Travel:

Limited travelling will be required. The Research Associate will be expected to present research at academic conferences.

This is a 1-year appointment, with the possibility of extension, depending on approval of supervisor based on performance and funding. All individuals interested in this position must
