Your Opportunity:

Prof. Suzanne Erb, in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough, invites applicants for the position of Research Associate (Limited Term) to conduct collaborative research on behavioral, cognitive, and personality domains influencing the relationship between stress and problem substance use. Primary research interests are in examining differential impacts of chronic life stress (early life adversity, current life stress) and acute stress, and incongruencies in self report and behavioral measures of relevant personality constructs (e.g., impulsivity). This opportunity of a Research Associate (Limited Term) is a 2-year term appointment and the anticipated start date is June 1, 2024.

Job Duties:

The candidate will be responsible for the conceptualization, execution, statistical analysis, communication, and dissemination of psychological research as directed by Prof. Suzanne Erb. Beyond these responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the preparation of research presentations; grant applications; research supervisions of graduate and undergraduate students and other trainees; facilitation of external research collaborations. At all times, the individual is expected to support the overall research and teaching missions of Professor Erb's research group.

Qualifications (Minimum Qualifications):

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology with demonstrated academic and research excellence. Excellence is to be demonstrated through publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals in Psychological Science. Proven track record of creativity in developing experimental strategies and analyzing data using multivariate and multi-level modelling techniques, as well as a high level of proficiency with statistics software packages, including R and SPSS. In addition, the candidate must have demonstrated experience in preparing manuscripts for submission to peer-review publications/journals, and in presenting research findings at conferences/seminars. The candidate must also have a strong track record of successful mentorship of undergraduate researchers.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.  Must be able to work positively with others in a collaborative work environment. Travel:

Limited travelling will be required. The Research Associate will be expected to present research at academic conferences.
