Job Summary
This position strengthens the research functions in quantum computing and the existing quantum algorithms. The conducted research in this position is based on the general cybersecurity use cases as well as the blockchain system using the existing encryption hash functions. The research includes a survey of the impact of quantum computing on the cybersecurity. The survey should also include the cutting-edge solutions that could solve the potential threats brought by the quantum algorithms to the existing cybersecurity and information systems. It is expected from the applicant to conduct research on post-quantum blockchain systems with a particular focus on new blockchain architectures that resist quantum attacks. This position will engage with practitioners and academics, and will work closely with research assistants, students, and highly qualified personnel to enhance the research undertaken by Dr. Chen Feng.
Organizational Status
This position will report to the Principal Investigator (Dr. Chen Feng).
Work Performed

Reports to Dr. Chen Feng, a Tier-2 Principal's Research Chair in Blockchain and Co-Cluster Lead of Blockchain@UBC about weekly progresses.

Participates in the management and intellectual direction of the overall research program.

Regular dissemination of research results through meetings, conferences, and publications.

Assists with generating reports to funding agencies and partners.

Assists with grant writing to secure additional research funds.

Other duties as requested.

Errors will impact subsequent work on this project.
Supervision Received
This position will receive supervision directly from the Project Scientists and the Principal Investigators as needed.
Supervision Given
This position will not be required to supervise anyone involved in the research program. If opportunity arises to supervise research trainees such as students, such opportunities will be discussed with the incumbent.
Minimum Qualifications

PhD, or equivalent degree in a related field or other equivalent qualifications in their fields of research.

Minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong research background, as demonstrated by past publications, accomplishments, and references.

The successful candidate will be a passionate, self-driven, independent thinker with excellent oral and written communication skill, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic.


Preferred Qualifications

It would be beneficial for applicant to be able to adapt new ideas and tools from information theory, coding theory, stochastic processes, and optimization to design better communication networks with a particular emphasis on quantum communications and blockchain technology.
