Position 

The individual will work under the supervision of Professor Hongbo Zeng. The required tasks for this position include ordering and maintaining inventory of lab supplies and ensuring labs are clean and compliant with UofA Health, Safety and Environment standards. Additional tasks include assisting with surveys and experiments.

Duties 

1. Clean Lab:

  • Perform regular cleaning of laboratory surfaces, equipment, and workspaces, together with team members.
  • Adhere to established safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a pristine and organized lab environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a conducive and safe working environment for all researchers.

2. Stock Lab Supplies:

  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Monitor supply levels and anticipate needs to prevent disruptions in research activities.
  • Collaborate with procurement and research teams to ensure timely and cost-effective replenishment of supplies.

3. Assist with Surveys:

  • Contribute to survey design, implementation, and data collection, together with team members.
  • Assist in the distribution of surveys to participants, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines.
  • Assist team members with the analysis of survey data, providing support to ongoing resaerch initiatives.

4. Assist with Experiments:

  • Collaborate with researchers in setting up equipment and preparing materials for experiments.
  • Actively assist team members in the execution of experiments, following established protocols.
  • Actrively assist team members in recording and organizing experimental data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering or science).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality research standards.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Candidates with prior experience in a chemical engineering or materials engineering research laboratory will be given preference
