Department/Faculty Summary

Translating Research in Elder Care (TREC) is a research program in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta. TREC is a pan-Canadian and international longitudinal health services and knowledge translation program of applied research. It is multi-disciplinary with approximately 30 researchers from 8 universities and 20 core decision makers; it is functions in an integrated KT or partnered model. We have long standing relationships with stakeholders, end users, policy makers and our citizen advisory group. TREC maintains a cohort of 94 nursing homes and has a world-class database that has been running continuously for 15 years. Position Summary

The Research Assistant will assist will work under the direction of the Senior Project Coordinator based with Translating Research in Elder Care (TREC) in the Faculty of Nursing, University of Alberta. They will assist with the continuous activities and day to day operations of various projects including drafting reports, coordinating correspondence and meetings, taking notes, monitoring status of projects and supporting team members in research.

Duties

  • Takes notes and minutes for meetings; distills the action-items
  • Interacts and communicates with stakeholders, investigators and team members on regular basis and drafts reports and briefings for different stakeholder groups
  • Helps to monitor and assess project status on an ongoing basis to ensure project objectives are met
  • Assists under supervision in the collection and analysis of qualitative process evaluation data (focus groups, interviews, surveys)
  • Supports team members with their communication and contacts with sites and receipt and dissemination of study and project materials.
  • Arranges meetings, sends invitations and participations in regular group meetings/calls for various projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Nursing, Health Sciences or Public Health
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and to multi-task while remaining organized
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Research experience in long-term care or health research is required
  • Experience with research activities is an asset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TREC is an asset
