RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
Under the supervision of Dr. Madhukar Pai and Dr. Ananya Banerjee, Principal Investigators, the incumbent will support the collaborative research project focused on the O’Neill-Lancet Commission on Racism, Structural Discrimination and Global Health’s second mandate, i.e., identifying best practices and actionable anti-racist strategies.

General Duties
INTRODUCTION :
Sous la supervision de Dr. Madhukar Pai, chercheur principal, et la Dre Ananya Banerjee, chercheuse principale, la ou le titulaire du poste contribuera au projet de recherche collaboratif axé sur le second mandat de la commission O’Neill-Lancet Commission on Racism, Structural Discrimination and Global Health, c.-à-d. identifier les meilleures pratiques et stratégies exploitables antiracistes.

RÔLE :
Dans ce poste, la ou le assitant.e de recherche :

• Exécutera des revues de littérature sur des sujets liés au projet ,
• Supportera la préparation des outils de collection de données (e.g. guides d’entrevues et de groupes de discussion) ,
• Réalisera des analyses qualitatives et quantitatives des données recueillies ,
• Collaborera avec la personne gestionnaire de projet et le chercheur principal et la chercheuse principale dans la préparation des livrables, tels que les rapports d’étapes ,

FONCTIONS SPÉCIFIQUES :
• Contribuer à l’atteinte des objectifs de recherche conformément à l’échéancier de la commission O’Neill-Lancet,
• Contribuer à la rédaction de rapports d’étapes, publications et présentations.
INTRODUCTION:
Under the supervision of Dr. Madhukar Pai and Dr. Ananya Banerjee, Principal Investigators, the incumbent will support the collaborative research project focused on the O’Neill-Lancet Commission on Racism, Structural Discrimination and Global Health’s second mandate, i.e., identifying best practices and actionable anti-racist strategies.

ROLE:
In this position, the Research Assistant will:

• Conduct literature reviews on relevant topics to the project,
• Support the preparation of data collection materials (e.g., focus group and interview guides),
• Perform analyses on qualitative and quantitative data,
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and Principal Investigators to develop deliverables, such as progress reports.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the achievement of research objectives within the Commission’s specified timeline,
• Contribute to the development of progress reports, publications, and presentations.


Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: global health, primary care, and/or health policy

Work Experience: Experience in health system research

Professional Membership: ☐ Yes ☒ No

Other Requirements:
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of core principles related to health equity and social justice,
• Knowledge of research principles and practices,
• Experience with epidemiologic and qualitative (focus groups, in-depth interviews, etc.) research methodologies,
• Experience conducting systematic and scoping reviews, as well as conducting data collection, analysis, and results dissemination,
• Ability to work within a diverse team, including communicating with community partners and participants,
• Ability to engage in self-reflexivity and critical reflection on intersecting systems of oppression,
• Excellent English, spoken and written (knowledge of other languages are an asset),
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills,
• Ability to work independently or within teams with minimum supervision,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent software and data collection software (e.g Nvivo, R, Sas).


Additional information

Status: Temporary Part-Time
Pay Scale: $26.65 - $49.50 per hour, commensurate with education and work experience / $48 503.00 - $90,090.00/year.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday, day time
Work Site: McGill University campus and/or remote work
